At 8 p.m. a male driver in Timberlea had his license suspended after his breath sample registered between 50 and 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (mg%). Later that night, a 35-year-old Halifax man failed to provide an RCMP officer with a sufficient sample of breath into an approved screening device which resulted in his arrest for Refusal to Comply with a Demand. He was subsequently transported to the Lower Sackville RCMP detachment where he also failed to provide suitable samples of breath into an approved instrument. He will be facing charges of Refusal to Comply with a Demand and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance. And shortly before 3 a.m. this morning, an RCMP officer arrested a 23-year-old Lake Echo man who now faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operation of a Conveyance 80mg% or Over after he provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit. Road safety continues to be a priority for the Nova Scotia RCMP, we continue to encourage the public to call 911 if they suspect an impaired driver. It might just save a life.
