Three more people fined under Health Protection Act

Police say one man refused to wear a mask, while two teens failed to self-isolate

Three more people have been handed $2,422 fines under the Health Protection Act.

Halifax Regional Police wrote the first ticket on New Year’s Eve.

They say a 56-year-old man was refusing to wear a mask in the common areas of a Dartmouth apartment building.

The other tickets were handed out to two teens on Tuesday.

Police were told a vehicle was driving erratically along Larry Uteck Boulevard at around 10:30 p.m.

Officers who tracked down the car over say an 18-year-old and 17-year-old were inside and both were failing to self-isolate as required under COVID-19 public health directives.

“HRP is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the COVID-19 emergency,” they said in a news release.

“We strongly advise members of the public to continue to educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures.”
