Three charged after Beaverbank robbery

Three people are now facing charges after a convenience store on Beaverbank Road in Beaverbank was robbed Sunday morning.

Officers with the Halifax RCMP detachment were called to the scene around 11:10 after staff reported that two men had held up the store with what was thought to be a knife.

The pair made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, liquor, lottery tickets, and cigarettes.

The men left the store on foot before jumping into a grey SUV.

A short time later, police spotted the vehicle and pulled it over on Beaverbank Road.

Two suspects tried to escape from police on foot but were arrested after a short foot chase.

Police recovered no knife during the arrest or subsequent foot chase.

A woman driving the SUV was also arrested at the scene.

24-year-old John Benn of Middle Sackville has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Resist a Peace Officer
  • Two counts of Uttering Threats
  • Disguise with Intent

26-year-old Victor Seren McNamara of Kinsac has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer
  • Two counts of Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
  • Resisting a Peace Officer
  • Disguise with Intent

Both Benn and McNamara were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Police released a 67-year-old Kinsac woman driving the SUV on condition and will face charges of Robbery and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. She is due to appear in court in June.

No injuries were reported in the incident
