Suspect sought after wielding knife in convenience store robbery

The male suspect entered convenience store in Cole Harbour and demanded cash and cigarettes, showing a knife, police say

Halifax District RCMP is searching for a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at the Needs Convenience on the corner of Astral Drive and Caldwell Road in Cole Harbour.

According to an RCMP release, an unknown man entered the store earlier today, waited in the line and approached the counter, demanding cash and cigarettes. After showing a knife, the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes and fled the scene.

No one was injured as a result of this incident, police say.

RCMP describe the suspect as a man in his 30s, wearing:

• sunglasses
• a blue surgical mask
• a black ballcap hat with a full-colour Blue Jays logo on the front
• a grey/blue hoodie
• faded blue jeans
• white sneakers with blue/black trim

The investigation is ongoing.
