Suspect charged in Barrington Street stabbing (update)

A man is facing charges in a Monday night stabbing in downtown Halifax.

Officers were called to Barrington Street near Duke just before 7:30 p.m. where they found the 47-year-old male victim.

Police say he knew his attacker and the suspect was gone by the time they arrived.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators make an arrest at around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Malcolm Edson Haggerty, 41, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
