A new poll is suggesting support for Tim Houston is slipping, although the Nova Scotia premier retains a strong lead over his closest opposition.

Released on Wednesday, the poll from Abacus Data surveyed more than 600 adults living in Nova Scotia.

Conducted between Jan. 21 and 28, the poll showed approval of the current governing PC party at 48 per cent among decided voters.

While this is still a strong showing, it is also a four-point drop since an earlier poll last September and five points below the 2024 election showing.

The New Democrats under Claudia Chender now sit at 25 per cent, which is up two points since the fall.

The Liberals have also gained slightly in the polls since September, climbing up two points to 18 percent.

The Greens currently sit at two per cent, with other parties combining for 7 per cent.

Regionally speaking, Tim Houston and the PC party are gaining among voters in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Most recent figures show the Houston government increased to 43 percent among HRM voters, which is up from last September’s 39 per cent report.

With the NDP sitting at 33 per cent in the HRM, the PC party holds a 10-point lead in the Halifax area.
