NEWS RELEASE
NOVA SCOTIA HEALTH

All of Nova Scotia’s community vaccine clinics are offering drop-in appointments this week to encourage Nova Scotians who are not yet fully vaccinated to get either their first or second dose. Many locations also offer booked appointments. All of the clinics listed below are providing Pfizer vaccine, which is available to anyone 12 years of age or older; the Dartmouth General drive-thru location will also offer Moderna vaccine (18+) as of Aug. 11.

Most of the following community clinics will remain open until Friday, Aug. 13. After that date, these large-scale community vaccine clinics will close, with the exception of the IWK Community Vaccine Clinic (open until Aug. 27), the Truro Community Vaccine Clinic (open until Aug. 14) and the Dartmouth General drive thru vaccine clinic (open until Aug. 21). The St. FX Community clinic in Antigonish closes Aug. 12. Vaccine will continue to be available through local participating pharmacies after community clinics wrap up.

It’s important to remember that it takes a full two weeks for the COVID-19 vaccine to achieve its full effect. As of today (Aug. 10) 67.1 per cent of all Nova Scotians have received two doses of vaccine; 76.7 per cent have received at least one dose. To achieve population immunity by the end of summer, eligible Nova Scotians who are not yet fully vaccinated need to act now.

Anyone who has a second-dose appointment booked after Aug. 13 at any of the community vaccine clinics scheduled to close by that date need to move up their appointment or reschedule into a pharmacy clinic. Any appointments that are not moved up or rescheduled will be canceled by the province.

Timing between doses: Anyone who received Pfizer as their first dose can receive Pfizer or Moderna 21+ days later. Anyone who received Moderna or Astra Zeneca as their first dose can receive either Pfizer or Moderna 28+ days later.
