Another weekend weather system is poised to dump more rain onto HRM, most of southern Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement Thursday evening in advance of the rain, which is supposed to start Friday night and carry on through Saturday.  The national forecaster says this system could produce rainfall rates of 25 mm per hour, and some areas could see 50 mm or more before the storm moves off on Sunday.

The national forecaster says heavy downpours like these can cause flash flooding and pooling of water. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Similar events have caused hazardous driving conditions and localized flooding in low-lying areas.
