Special Weather Statement issued ahead of weekend winter storm

It looks like we are in for some wintery weather over the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for mainland Nova Scotia.

CityNews weather specialist Denise Andreacci says a system will move into the region towards the end of the weekend, and while the storm is still a few days away, Andreacchi says HRM can expect as much as 10 cm of snow.

“Widespread snow expected to wrap up the weekend,” said Andreacchi. “ This snow is expected to be widespread, right across the province.”

The national forecaster says areas throughout Nova Scotia could see heavy snowfall, with as much as 25 centimetres in some areas, and winds of 40 to 60 kilometres an hour in blowing snow conditions could hamper visibility.
