A 20-year-old Dartmouth man faces seven charges, including sexual assault and child pornography. Police began their investigation after a youth reported an alleged sexual assault in January that had reportedly happened the month previous.
During the investigation into the original incident, police learned of and identified additional victims.
The Internet Child Exploitation Unit searched a home in Dartmouth on Thursday, seized several electronic devices, and arrested a man in connection with the incidents. Police say the electronics have been sent off for forensic testing.
Cameron James Martin Cann, 20, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference
- Luring a person under the age of 16 by means of telecommunications
- Agreement to commit a sexual offence against a person under the age of 16
- Luring a person under the age of 18 by means of telecommunications
- Possession of child pornography
- Printing and publishing of child pornography
Police are asking anyone with information on child pornography to file a report by calling the police at 902-490-5020 or using Cybertip, Canada’s National Tip Line, to report online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
