Police say the victim has been identified as Simon Joseph Morrison, 18, who’s from Halifax. “Police do not believe this was a random incident,” an HRP news release says. “The investigation is being led by homicide investigators from the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.” An autopsy conducted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service on April 16 confirmed the death was a homicide. HRP says the investigation is currently in the preliminary stages. Officers were called to the 2400 block of Brunswick Street just after 1:30 a.m. on April 16, where cops found a man who suffered gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Brunswick Street between Artz and Gerrish streets, as well as Uniacke Street, was shut down for several hours early Saturday morning.
