(CityNews Image) CANADAHALIFAX news RCMP stops 10 impaired drivers over May long weekend by admin 27 مايو، 2025 written by admin 27 مايو، 2025 248 CITYnews halifax / By Rachel Morgan RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment arrested seven impaired drivers and suspended the licences of an additional three across the municipality over the Victoria Day weekend. Five drivers were stopped for exhibiting signs on impairment on Friday May 16. Three drivers were charged with impairment after registering breath samples up to 100mg%, 120mg% and 240mg% respectively. Another driver refused to provide a breath sample and was charged with Refusal to Comply with a Demand. The fifth driver registered a blood alcohol concentration of 70mg% and was issued a 7-day suspension. On the evening of May 17, a driver was stopped during a traffic checkpoint in Terence Bay. The driver provided a breath sample indicating “warn” at 50mg%. The driver was issued a seven-day license suspension. On May 18, a driver was stopped after rapidly approaching the rear of a patrol vehicle. During the investigation, it was determined the driver was a new driver. He also provided a breath sample of 41mg%. The driver was issued a summary offence ticket for speeding and given a 24-hour suspension. Later that night officers conducted a traffic stop in Cole Harbour on a vehicle that had extensive front damage. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and provided a breath sample up to 220mg%. Two additional drivers were arrested after leaving licensed establishments in the Bedford area. They face charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance. The stops were part of the second weekend of Canada Road Safety Week.
