RCMP issue arrest warrant for man at centre of emergency alert

The RCMP says it has now obtained a province-wide arrest warrant for the man at the centre of a recent emergency alert.

An alert was issued across much of the province on Sunday night after a shooting at a motel in Brookfield, in Colchester County.

The Mounties say 52-year-old Darren Trevor Jackson allegedly shot at a woman and her vehicle at the hotel. She wasn’t hurt, but a second woman waiting in the vehicle was hit and suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The emergency alert was eventually cancelled on Monday morning as police said it was determined there was no risk to the public “given the targeted nature of the shooting”.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Jackson has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder, amng many other charges.

Jackson is described as 5’10”, 205 lbs, with greying hair and brown eyes. Police continue to say he may be armed, and anyone who sees him should stay away and call police.
