Halifax RCMP is investigating a fatal crash involving a dirt bike that occurred in Beaver Bank.

Police say it happened on July 5 around 1:20 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Meadowbrook Drive and Pinebrook Drive.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a dirt bike had been travelling on Pinebrook Drive when it left the road and came to rest in the ditch. Officers continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

The driver and sole rider of the bike, a 24-year-old male from Beaver Bank, was pronounce dead at the scene.

The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
