The Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating two deaths they are labelling suspicious.
On Jan. 5 at approximately 1:05 p.m., RCMP responded to a request to check on the wellbeing of two people at a home on Long Hill Rd. in Mahone Bay. RCMP say the responding officers found the remains of two adults deceased in the residence.
The deaths are being treated as suspicious and police confirmed the individuals were known to one another.
An investigation is ongoing, led by the Lunenburg District RCMP and supported by Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit (MCU), Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
RCMP say there is no evidence at this time to suggest any risk to the public.
The investigation is in the initial stages and no further information will be released at this time.
