Police lay charges in Quingate homicide

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in relation to a homicide that occurred last week.

On Oct. 10 just shy of 10 a.m., officers responded to a well-being check at Quingate Place in Halifax, where they found a deceased women. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service quickly ruled the death a homicide and police stated they did not believe the incident was random.

Jonathan William Pinsky, 41, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother, Delina Pinsky, 71.

He will remain in custody for the weekend before appearing in court on Tuesday Oct. 15.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are asking anyone with information about the incident, or video of the area, to speak with police or Crime Stoppers.
