CANADAHALIFAX news Police investigating suspicious envelopes delivered to Halifax City Hall by admin 8 فبراير، 2022 written by admin 8 فبراير، 2022 109 There are no reported injuries or illness CITYnews halifax \ Meghan Groff Listen to this article Halifax Regional Police have launched an investigation after a number of suspicious envelopes were delivered to Halifax City Hall Monday. The Forensic Identification Section are now examining and testing the envelopes to determine their contents. “At this time, there are no reported injuries or illness in relation to the envelopes,” said police in a news release. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers. It is unclear if the envelopes sent to Halifax City Hall are related to suspicious envelopes that were mailed to the three local constituency offices of Conservative MPs in Nova Scotia. South Shore—St. Margarets MP Rick Perkins told the Canadian Press a staff member at his Barrington office was taken to hospital for a decontamination shower. He had opened a package full of “disturbing images,” then his eyes and hands began to burn. An identical envelope was sent to Perkins’ office in Bridgewater and another envelope arrived at West Nova MP Chris d’Entremont’s constituency office in Yarmouth. Staff had already been warned about the incident in Barrington and they weren’t opened, but RCMP say an employee in the Yarmouth office had skin irritation after handling the package. “The packages are suspected to have contained a chemical irritant, and further testing is being conducted to identify the substance,” said Mounties in a news release.
