Regional police have released the identity of the man killed in Dartmouth on Monday night and are asking for help finding two suspects.

Halifax Regional Police says officers responded to reports of gunfire on Ancona Place in the Montebello area around 9 p.m. They arrived to find a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an update on Tuesday afternoon, police said the victim is 37-year-old Cortrell Thomas, and it’s not believed the shooting was random.

“Investigators are searching for two suspects who were seen leaving Ancona Place through PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Park. Anyone who has video footage from the area, including Capistrano Drive, Appian Way and Casavechia Court, is asked to contact police if they haven’t already spoken to an officer,” police said in a media release.

HRP says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information should reach out.
