Halifax Regional Police are continuing their investigation into an alleged sexual assault during the 2003 World Junior hockey tournament.

Police started their investigation on July 21 when they received a report about a historic sexual assault.

Anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to police is asked to call 902-490-5020.

In a news release, HRP said historical sexual assault investigations are complex.

“Investigators are pursuing numerous avenues and taking the necessary time to conduct a thorough investigation,” said police.

 “It is important to remember that there is no statute of limitation on sexual assaults, and we encourage anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault to contact police,” HRP added. “We want victims to know that they will be treated with compassion, dignity and respect throughout the entire investigative process.”
