Police charge man for sexual assault

A man has been charged after a sexual assault in downtown Halifax on Canada Day.

Halifax Regional Police were called to Barrington Street in the area of Grand Parade at around 9 p.m.

They were told woman was touched in a sexual manner by a man she didn’t know.

A suspect was arrested in the area.

The 53-year-old man has been released on conditions and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face a charge of sexual assault.
