Police have arrested three different men for impaired driving following separate collisions throughout HRM.

The first happened on Monday evening when officers responded to reports of a heavily damaged SUV with flat tires driving eastbound on Highway 7 in Ecum Secum.

Police said they eventually found the SUV at a home along the highway and saw a man get out of the vehicle carrying an alcoholic beverage and showing signs of impairment.

He then noticed the police and fled on foot, but was arrested for impaired driving after a short chase.

The 34-year-old man of Mount Uniacke was released from custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.

The second incident took place on Tuesday morning when police responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Hammonds Plains Road and Pockwock Road.

According to RCMP, a Lincoln MKS had collided with a Honda Civic. The driver of the Lincoln was showing signs of impairment and offered to pay the Civic driver to leave the scene.

Police said they later found the Lincoln at an address on Equestrian Lane, where the driver provided a breath sample, which resulted in a fail.

The 39-year-old man of Hammonds Plains was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

The third incident happened late Tuesday evening when officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Cow Bay Road in Eastern Passage.

RCMP said the driver and the passenger left the scene before police arrived, and once officers arrived, they found a Lexus IS on its side with no one nearby.

Mounties said a separate vehicle then arrived, and the driver told police they were there to pick up their friend who had just crashed.

Officers then went to the home of the Lexus owner and found the driver, who was showing signs of impairment and claimed his vehicle had been stolen.

The 20-year-old man from Cole Harbour was arrested for public mischief and impaired driving, issued a seven-day driving suspension and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
