Police arrest 15-year-old in attempted robbery investigation

The RCMP says a youth is facing charges in connection to an attempted robbery in Cole Harbour earlier this month.

According to police, the incident happened at a recreation centre on Forest Hills Parkway on the evening of Oct. 11.

“RCMP officers learned that a person approached four youths who were near the pedway, displayed a knife, and demanded jewelry from one of the youths,” police wrote in a media release. “The person fled on foot when the youths said they were advising security.”

No one was injured in the incident, officials said.

A 15-year-old was arrested a week later on charges of attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The youth is expected to appear in court in early November.
