Halifax Regional Police caught and charged a person for stunting during the rush hour last week.

On July 18, a member of the traffic unit saw a vehicle travelling at a “high rate of speed” on Highway 102 near the exit to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

The officer caught the person driving at 160 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.

The 33-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is going more then 50 km/h over the limit, a post on X from the force reads.

The man was also fined 2,422.50 and six demerit points were assigned to his record. He is suspended for seven days and the vehicle was seized. This driver was also not driving with valid insurance, the police said.

“We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911,” officials said.
