Halifax Regional Police said officers were first called to reports of two men going into a home in the 5500 block of Cogswell St. around 3:30 a.m. According to police, the two men approached the person inside the home, showed what were believed to be firearms and then fled in a vehicle. The pair were found a couple of hours later in a vehicle on Maynard St. and were arrested. Police said the men were in possession of a loaded shotgun, a replica handgun and ammunition. HRP said the men had broken into a number of storage lockers and a vehicle in the parking garage of an apartment building on South Bland St. earlier that morning. Several items were recovered including cash and bicycles. Koty Christopher Nickerson, 36, and Christian Gordon Bennett, 37, are both facing a number of charges including possession of a firearm, break and enter and theft under $5,000, among many others.
