Announced on Nov. 12, 34-year veteran Dennis Daley has been appointed the Nova Scotia RCMP Assistant Commissioner. In his storied career with the RCMP, Daley has served in various capacities, including 29 years of combined service in the Maritimes. According to the news release, Daley is dedicated to working with partners across the province to protect people’s safety. “I’m looking forward to continuing to build effective relationships with the provincial and municipal governments, municipal police agencies, and community leaders,” Daley notes in the release. “Working with stakeholders from Cape North to Cape Sable Island is key to preventing crime and creating safer communities.” Assistant Commissioner Daley joined the RCMP in 1988. His career has included postings in general duty, federal policing and criminal operations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and at Ottawa’s National Headquarters. He served as a general duty investigator from 1989 to 1995 at the New Minas Detachment, as Operations Officer in Halifax District from 2011 until 2013, and as the Nova Scotia RCMP’s Administration and Personnel Officer from 2013 to 2017. With his transfer to National Headquarters in 2017, Assistant Commissioner Daley was responsible for overseeing the RCMP’s strategic direction and core police functions on a national level. And in 2019, he assumed the position of Assistant Commissioner of Contract and Indigenous Policing for the RCMP.
