A short period of heavy snow Wednesday morning made for a slippery commute during the rush hour with as much as 10 centimetres expected to fall by 10 a.m. across much of mainland Nova Scotia. Several regional centres for education closed schools for the day including: Strait RCE, which will dismiss students at noon. Annapolis Valley RCE Chignecto-Central RCE schools in Colchester, Cumberland and East Hants South-Shore RCE Tri-County RCE Cape Breton-Victoria RCE schools north of Smokey CSAP schools in Clare and Argyle Environment Canada had issued a special weather statement for all counties southeast of Pictou and Guysborough. The warnings were mostly lifted before noon. According to the national weather service, snowfall amounts were expected to approach five centimetres per hour, making it difficult to see the road. CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin said with the storm moving from west to east, Cape Breton can expect heavier snow after the morning rush hour with snow changing to rain for the evening drive. There’s also a Les Suêtes wind warning for Inverness County north of Mabou through the mid-afternoon with gusts up to 90 km/h. Thursday’s storm Simpkin said once Wednesday’s storm moves out, the temperatures will drop. On Thursday, another five to 10 centimetres of snow is expected to begin falling in the morning with the bulk of the snow in the afternoon. That could make for a slippery evening commute. Quiet tonight, but our next system tracks in from west to east on Thursday. Some snow for AM commute for western areas, however it's the aft/evening commute in NS, that will be impacted most, including in #Halifax. Some blowing/drifting with gusts 40-60 km/h.#nsstorm #nbstorm pic.twitter.com/cTUWYWZrvn — Ryan Snoddon (@ryansnoddon) March 2, 2022 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Union and province at odds over change to emergency call staffing next post Lawyers for families argue gunman’s spouse must be witness in N.S. shooting inquiry You may also like الليبراليون ينتخبون زعيماً جديداً في 9 مارس وجولي... 11 يناير، 2025 بواليافر لانتخابات تمنحه تفويضاً واضحاً ليتحدث إلى الأميركيين 11 يناير، 2025 New Brunswick man charged in killings of two... 11 يناير، 2025 After N.S. wildfires, province brings in new tax... 11 يناير، 2025 P.E.I. oyster farmers fear without government help, MSX... 11 يناير، 2025 Drivers digging deeper to fill their tanks: Fuel... 2025 Leave a Comment Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
