Nova Scotia is moving onto to phase two of its reopening plan today, as vistor restrictions ease in hospitals and other health facilities.

As of today, support people and family caregivers are permitted to visit patients nearing end of life, and two designated support people at a time are allowed for visits to children, patients in intensive care and critically ill patients in emergency rooms, and women in labour.

One designated support person at a time is allowed for children in outpatient settings, hospital inpatients, patients in ERs, and pre-natal visits.

In terms of gathering limits and capacity, festivals, special events and arts and culture events can take place at 75 per cent of the venue’s capacity while maintaining a physical distance.

Capacity at large venues like the Scotiabank Centre increased to 75 percent of the venue, up to 5,000 people.

Meantime, those who test positive will still need to self-isolate but they won’t have to notify any close contacts outside of their own household.

Close contacts that do not have symptoms will not need to isolate or get tested, although testing is recommended, and they should monitor for symptoms. Close contacts that develop symptoms need to isolate and test immediately.
