The lung screening program targets people at a high risk of developing lung cancer, offering clinincal assessments and CT scans. The program will also provide information to help people stop smoking. People between the ages of 50 and 74 who have smoked daily for 20 years or more at any point in their lives can reach out and get an assessment. A nurse will determine if someone would benefit from a CT scan of their chest. The program is available now in the Halifax area and West Hants — also known as the central health zone — and is expected to roll out provincewide over the next two years.
