N.S. politicians team up to take on the carbon tax hike

Provincial politicians are calling on their federal counterparts to support a motion in the House of Commons calling for a stop to the upcoming carbon tax increase.

The motion was carried after the vote was unanimous in the provincial legislature yesterday, calling on all Nova Scotia members of parliament to vote to stop the carbon tax hike.

MPs will vote on a motion today in the House of Commons calling on an immediate halt to the increase.

The 3.3 cent per litre hike on fuel is scheduled for April 1.

Last week, Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservatives, Liberals and New Democrats all called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to cancel the increase, saying Nova Scotians can’t afford it right now.

Premier Tim Houston is asking Trudeau to scrap the carbon tax entirely.
