The Mooseheads were handed their first loss of the season Monday on the road against the Charlottetown Islanders.

William Shields struck first on the powerplay for the Islanders, sending one past Moosehead goalie Jack Milner, who made his first start of the season, to take an early lead. Then, about halfway through the period, the Moose tied the game when Shawn Carrier beat Donald Hickey on the powerplay.

It would take until the third period for the tie to be broken when Charlottetown’s Matthew Butler beat Milner on the blocker side. Butler would add another goal after a misplay in the Herd’s defensive end to seal the 3-1 victory for the home side.

With the loss, the Mooseheads’ record on the season falls to 4-1-0-0, while the Islanders improve to 2-2-0-1.

The Islanders swept the three-star selections on Monday, with Butler named 1st star and goaltender Donald Hickey the 2nd.

The Mooseheads will be back in action this Friday, Oct 4th, at 7:00 p.m. for their first home game of the season, taking on the Quebec Ramparts. You can catch all the action here on 95.7 NewsRadio.
