The game remained scoreless until 15:04 into the second period as Will Bent broke the deadlock, slipping the puck past the pad of Justin Robinson and into the Sea Dogs net. Shawn Carrier and Owen Philips are credited with the assists on the goal. Sea Dogs forward Tyler Peddle evened up the contest with only 27 seconds left in the second period, snapping a one-timer past Jacob Steinman. In the third period, Dylan Rozzi tapped a puck past Steinman’s pad to give Saint John their first lead with less than seven minutes remaining in the game. Sea Dogs’ forward Zachary Morin later buried two empty net goals to put the game out of reach for the Herd. Just before the first empty-net goal, Brady Schultz was shaken up in the Sea Dogs’ end but could leave the ice under his own power, heading to the Moosehead’s locker room. With the loss, the Herd fell to 15-24-6, while the Sea Dogs improved to 19-25-0. Saint John goaltender Justin Robinson earned first star after a 38-save performance in the win. Halifax netminder Jacob Steinman claimed the second star with 34 saves in the loss, and the third star went to Sea Dogs’ defender Benjamin Amyot. Halifax will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 30th, as the Herd begins their final Quebec road trip of the season, and they journey up to Baie-Comeau to take on the Drakkar.
