Minor injuries after fire at Grand Parade encampment

One person sustained minor injuries after a fire Monday morning at the tent encampment at Grand Parade in downtown Halifax.

Assistant Chief of Operations Jim Stymiest told CityNews that crews were called to the scene at 6:33 a.m. to find a propane appliance and two lawn chairs on fire.  Crews also discovered that flames damaged two propane tanks and one tent,

One person at the site received some minor burns to their hands and was treated on-site. Both Halifax Fire and Rescue, along with Halifax Regional Police, are investigating the cause.
