The RCMP has arrested two people from Millbrook after a cross-border firearms investigation.

According to police, the investigation kicked off after a tip from U.S. law enforcement officials about a Nova Scotian trying to buy a prohibited firearm online.

“Federal Policing received a tip from Homeland Security Investigations that an individual in the Millbrook area was trying to buy a Glock 19, which is a semi-automatic pistol, from the United States via a social media platform,” says Superintendent Jason Popik, Federal Policing Criminal Operations Officer with the Nova Scotia RCMP. “As a result of this information and our subsequent investigation, we executed a search warrant at a residence and made two arrests.”

Police allegedly seized 17 unsecured firearms and ammunition, two prohibited 9mm over-capacity magazines, a 3D printer, filament, and tools for manufacturing firearms and more than 225,000 contraband cigarettes from the home in Millbrook First Nation.

A 51-year-old man and a 15-year-old have been charged with a long list of offences and police said the youth was in possession of a 3D printed firearm at the time of thier arrest.

Both have court appearances set for May.
