Police say that at around 3:35 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver who was merging into traffic onto Highway 101 from Beaverbank Road. According to police, the driver refused to stop and, in the interest of public safety, the officer decided not to persue. Moments later, officers say the red GMC pickup truck left the road and came to rest on its roof near Exit 2A, Highway 101 in Middle Sackville. Two people fled from the vehicle, leaving a third trapped behind. Emergency crews extracted the trapped woman and she was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another occupant, a youth, was found nearby with non-life threatening injuries and was brought to hospital. Hours later, a 33-year-old man was arrested in Lower Sackville and police believe he was the driver. The investigation is ongoing.
