The RCMP says an 18-year-old man is facing several offences after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 102 in Lower Sackville last week.

According to police, officers responded to a damaged Volkswagen Golf parked on the highway at about 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, and say the driver was standing beside the vehicle when police arrived.

“While gathering information about the crash, the officer observed signs of impairment,” reads a media release from the RCMP. “The officer demanded the driver provide a roadside breath sample to which he refused and then tried to give the officer money to leave.”

The Mounties say the driver was arrested for refusing the breath screening and was “combative” with the officer during the process.

More stories:

Cooper Patrick Henson, 18, has been charged with offences including

  • Operating while impaired
  • Refusal to comply with breath screening demand
  • Bribery of officers
  • Resisting peace officer
  • Fail to comply with undertaking

He has been released on conditions and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
