Man faces 24 charges for thefts in HRM

Regional police have laid 24 charges against a man in connection to multiple thefts earlier this year.

On Wednesday, officers arrested Joseph James Jonathan Froment, 32, without incident in Dartmouth.

Police say he was arrested in connection to six incidents where items were stolen from retail stores across the region and one incident where a vehicle was stolen and the owner was assaulted in a parking lot on Powder Mill Road in Fall River.

Froment was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Thursday to face a laundry list of charges including six counts of theft under $5,000, six counts of possession under $5,000, theft of motor vehicle, assault and 10 counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
