Regional police have charged a man in connection to a stabbing in downtown Halifax on Monday.

Shortly before 1 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing at a restaurant in the 1800 block of Hollis Street where a customer refused to pay for his meal and cut one of the employees when they approached him.

The suspect fled the area on foot but was arrested a short distance away.

Police say 28-year-old Blake Martin Swan was scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face a number of charges including robbery, assault causing bodily harm, and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace, among others.
