On Boxing Day at roughly 9:20 p.m., a man approached an RCMP officer outside the Cookville detachment, where he said he was an RCMP sergeant who had just been transferred from another province. Police said the suspect then tried to enter the detachment, and when the officer asked for identification, the man said he didn’t have any. According to RCMP, the officer quickly confirmed that no RCMP personnel had recently transferred into the detachment, nor was anyone, outside of the officers on shift, expected to be at the detachment on that day. The man was arrested as a result. Police said 43-year-old Christopher Allan MacLeod, of Liverpool, has been charged with personating a peace officer and breach of recognizance. He appeared in court and was released on conditions.
