Man charged with attempted murder in South Park St incident

Regional Police have laid charged after an incident in the south end of Halifax early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to an address in the 1300 block of South Park St after a report of a fight inside an apartment building.  When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Police took the man, known to the woman, into custody at the scene.

Satrajpal Singh Rai, 56, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court Thursday to face the following charges:

• Attempted murder
• Aggravated assault
• Assault with a weapon

The police investigation continues.
