Man charged with attempted murder in ATM robbery

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a woman was assaulted and robbed at an ATM in downtown Dartmouth late New Year’s Day.

Police say the woman was making at deposit at a bank machine on Portland Street at around 9:30 p.m. when she was attacked.

The suspect ran off and the victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Earlier this month, police released surveillance photos of the suspect.

On Tuesday night police pulled over a vehicle in Cole Harbour and made an arrest.

In addition to attempted murder, 41-year-old Jordan Anthony White will also face charges of robbery, assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace when he appears in court today.

He’s also facing charges of theft and possession of property obtained by crime in relation to a January 11 theft from the Chain Lake Drive NSLC.
