On Jan. 8, officers responded to a robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Spring Garden Road, where a man came into the store, stole merchandise, assaulted an employee and fled the area on foot. Then on Feb. 18, officers responded to an assault at the same store where the same man came in, stole merchandise, sprayed an employee with insect repellant and fled the area on foot. The suspect was then arrested on Feb. 28 without incident. Phillip Wayne MacLeod, 51, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Wednesday to face multiple charges, including robbery, assault with a weapon and theft, among others.
