Man charged after robbery at downtown Halifax liquor store

Halifax Regional Police says a man with a weapon was arrested shortly after robbing a local liquor store this week.

According to police, staff at the NSLC on Spring Garden Road reported a man went into the store on Monday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m. The man allegedly took several bottles of alcohol and left without attempting to pay.

“When confronted by Park Lane Mall Security, the man threatened them with a knife and fled the scene on foot,” police said in a media release.

HRP says the man was arrested just five minutes after the robbery was reported, as he boarded a Halifax Transit bus.

Paul Ningeogat, 23, appeared in court on Tuesday facing charges including robbery and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
