Man arrested after high-speed chase in Halifax

Regional police arrested a man after a high-speed chase in Halifax on Sunday.

At roughly 8:45 p.m., officers clocked a vehicle speeding on Highway 102.

Police said they noticed smoke and debris coming from the car, which was caused by a rear tire blowing out. Officers then attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it did not stop.

According to officers, during their pursuit, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and struck a police vehicle at the intersection of Transom Drive and Starboard Drive.

Officials eventually surround the suspect at the Larry Uteck Boulevard and Nine Mile Drive roundabout.

The suspect resisted arrest but was taken into custody at roughly 9:10 p.m., a press release reads.

Dimitri Robertson-Webb, 22, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday to face charges of:

• Resist arrest
• Dangerous operation of a conveyance
• Flight from peace officer – failure to stop motor vehicle while being pursued
• Possession of housebreaking tools
• Unlawful possession or sale of tobacco products

He also had an outstanding arrest for failing to appear in court from Bridgewater RCMP.
