Man and a youth charged in early morning incidents

A man and a youth are facing charges in some early morning incidents Thursday.

Halifax Regional Police were told two males were breaking into vehicles at around 2 a.m. on Shaunslieve Dr., off the Bedford Highway south of Larry Uteck Blvd.

When officers arrived, they saw two suspects take off in a vehicle, which was found abandoned further north along the Bedford Highway in the Mill Cove area.

One suspect was arrested nearby.

Then at about 4 a.m., police got a report of someone was breaking into a home on Glenmont Avenue.

Officers arrested a male youth in the area and they believe he had been behind the wheel of the vehicle that took off from Shaunslieve Dr.

Police say they recovered some of the property that had been stolen from the home.

A 16-year-old male is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court today to face charges of:

• Dangerous operation of a conveyance
• Flight from police
• Failure to comply with a court order
• Break and enter
• Mischief
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

An 18-year-old man was released to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges in relation to failing to obey the conditions of a youth court order.
