Macdonald Bridge will stay open this weekend

A previously planned closure of the Macdonald Bridge this weekend has been called off.

Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) says the cross harbour span will remain open October 14 – 17.

This was supposed to be the third of six consecutive weekends of bridge closures due to scheduled maintenance.

HHB did not say why the Macdonald is staying open, but the work is weather dependent and rain is in the forecast.

As of today, the MacKay Bridge is still scheduled to be closed next weekend from Friday night October 21 to early Monday morning October 24.

That’s supposed to be followed by two more weekend closures of the Macdonald, however that is subject to change.
