Kinap Beach closed to swimming

There will be no swimming at Kinap Beach until further notice.

Halifax Regional Municipality says recent tests at the Porters Lake swimming spot indicate bacteria levels have exceeded Health Canada guidelines.

“High bacteria levels can be caused by a number of factors, including dogs, birds, wildlife, and high temperatures,” HRM said in a news release.

The water quality at all supervised beaches in HRM — which officially open Canada Day — along with two unsupervised beaches, is regularly tested in the summer months.
