An investigation is underway into the discovery of a body in the Lahave River in Lunenburg County on Thursday.

Officers were called to the river in Pleasantville around 1:30 p.m. after a report of human remains found in the river.

Upon arrival, RCMP found the body of a 50-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released.

While police indicated that the investigation is in its early stages, they do not believe any criminal act played a role.
