The municipality aims to test more than 70 lakes once a week during the winter months, however the program can’t begin until ice has formed and it is safe for staff. Results get posted to halifax.ca. So far, none of the lakes tested meet safety standards. The Canadian Red Cross recommends a minimum ice thickness of 15 cm for walking or skating alone, at least 20 cm for group skating or games and at least 25 cm for snowmobiling. “Extreme caution is advised in areas where streams flow into and out of lakes,” said the municipality in a news release. “It is also important to note that ice conditions may vary over the entire surface of lakes and are subject to change with weather conditions.” 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Former Halifax medical student denies he killed fellow student for financial gain next post One-third of households say they’re financially worse off compared to year ago: poll You may also like Charges laid after RCMP vehicles were damaged in... 1 مايو، 2026 RCMP asking for ‘verifiable’ tips nearing disappearance anniversary... 1 مايو، 2026 Rainfall warning issued ahead of system set to... 1 مايو، 2026 U.K. company wins rights to explore for oil... 1 مايو، 2026 ‘Building collapsed’: Lloyoll Prefabs plant destroyed in overnight... 1 مايو، 2026 Canada selected to headquarter new multinational defence bank,... 1 مايو، 2026 Carney says there’s only ’one negotiator’ with the... 1 مايو، 2026 Separatist group ordered to pull down Alberta electoral... 1 مايو، 2026 Montreal father faces deportation as immigration advocates decry... 1 مايو، 2026 بريتيش كولومبيا تتوقع دعماً فدرالياً إضافياً إذا فشلت... 1 مايو، 2026
