A new survey from Narrative Research shows that 83 percent of Haligonians remain open to welcoming American tourists. “Clearly Haligonians are living up to the Maritime reputation of being welcoming, despite the current political climate, and understand the importance of tourism to our economy,” Margaret Chapman, COO and Partner of Narrative Research, said. It says most respondents say they are welcoming — or even likely to increase their level of hospitality — toward neighbours from south of the border. However, the poll also suggests the majority of Haligonians are able to separate their views of the Trump administration from their views of Americans in general. When it comes to the perceived beliefs about tourism in Halifax, 78 per cent of Haligonians believe the benefits of tourists outweigh the downsides, while only three per cent believe the downsides outweigh the benefits. “Tourism has long been a positive force in Halifax, and our warm welcome of visitors is something we take great pride in,” said Ross Jefferson, President and CEO of Discover Halifax. “The strong relationship between Canada and the United States has deep roots here, and American visitors play a key role in the tourism economy of our region, supporting local businesses and communities.” 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Halifax mayor to deliver first State of the Municipality address next post N.S. offers up to $150,000 for information in murder of 23-year-old You may also like Gas prices to change as energy board invokes... 10 مارس، 2026 Operating rooms closed at Victoria General after weekend... 10 مارس، 2026 Halifax considers asking province to create centralized dangerous... 10 مارس، 2026 RCMP in N.S. continue cannabis crackdown with more... 10 مارس، 2026 Cape Breton arts centre says tourism will be... 2026 Wilkie wins Canada’s first gold medal at Milan... 8 مارس، 2026 Iranian state TV says Mojtaba Khamenei, son of... 8 مارس، 2026 Missing police badge recovered in proactive traffic stop 8 مارس، 2026
