High-risk offender, convicted of murder, rape is living in Dartmouth area

Regional police are advising residents that a high-risk offender is now living in the Dartmouth area.

According to Halifax Regional Police, Douglas Worth, 73, is a federal offender who has been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder.

He was convicted of killing Trina Campbell, 12, who went missing after school in Brampton, Ont., in December 1987. According to a documentary on the case, Worth admitted to beheading the girl before raping her and dismembering and leaving the body. According to reports at the time, he would return several times over the next few months before police were able to track him down.

Police said Worth has a criminal history dating back to 1968 that includes offences of rape, break-and-enter, theft of motor vehicles and prison breach.

He is to have no contact with children or his victims, no drugs or alcohol, and all of his relationships must be reported.
